Awesome surf shop with a good selection and staff with good knowledge on the products

I came to Maui to learn kiteboarding, and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor than Troy. From the very first session, he was patient, encouraging, and incredibly knowledgeable. He explained everything clearly — from kite control and safety to riding technique — and helped me progress faster than I expected.

Troy always made sure I felt safe and confident on the water, even when conditions were challenging. You can tell he really cares about his students and loves the sport.

Thanks to his guidance, I now feel comfortable riding on my own, and I’m stoked to keep progressing. If you’re looking for a skilled, friendly, and professional kiteboarding instructor, Troy is the one to go with. Highly recommended!

Rented gear from Second Wind Maui 2 years in a row, same great service from all staff members! The owner Kevin is a pleasure to deal with and extremely knowledgeable about local wind and wave conditions. He always put my needs first by checking weather forecasts daily and advising which days were the best to rent gear. I rented a surfboard and kiteboarding equipment. The gear was new and in excellent condition. Even better Kevin’s store is less than 5 minutes from the beach, it couldn’t be more convenient if you need to rent additional equipment. Thank you for several magical days on the water Kevin, look forward to renting from you and your team on my next trip to Maui.

Love this shop! It's hard to find a great shop for any sport or hobby, but this place is the real deal. I did a lot of shopping online for my first full kiteboarding kit: Kite, bar/lines, harness, safety vest, board, travel bag... Second Wind had the best prices and comes with local service if you need it. Knowledgeable staff, who actually get out and use the equipment along with great prices and no high pressure sales. Now that I'm getting ready to move back to the mainland, they even gave me an option to help out with shipping my equipment.
Used sporting good stores can be hit or miss. Most are just glorified pawn/thrift shops. Second Wind staff actually know more about the local conditions, have a better knowledge base in general and have better service for the sport than the regular shops in town! Second Wind has been a total win for me! Definitely worth your time to drop by. 🙂

On my recent trip to Maui I used Second Wind to rent my Wing Foiling gear for a few days during my one week trip. Kevin & Jay were very informative and provided exactly the right set-up for my skills and despite some iffy winter wind conditions, I enjoyed two great days of foiling during my one week trip. I'm so glad I didn't bother dragging my gear through the airports and I can't wait to get back to Maui!!

They even install it free, but the timing didn't work out as I got there later than needed to get it done same day. Regardless I took it home and installed the next day in less than 30 min by using the tips they provided. Mahalo for your help!

Need some truck racks? Don't look anywhere else, Second wind is the place to go, not only was there a in stock large selection to choose from, the I installation is also included. Ian provided accurate and helpful information. Not only did Ian help me select the perfect product, he installed the 1000lb capacity racks effortlessly and timely. First visit purchasing racks for sons truck.. Went back for installation but clamps couldn't fit a 2015 truck. Worker, I hope I got his name correct, Trevor, went out of his way to find the part from another shop to make sure I left a happy camper! He explained how the racks work and what would be the best fit for my son since he rides dirt bike too as the racks I purchased wouldn't fit a bike. Sold me a little higher priced racks for same cost.. Customer service above and beyond! Thank you so much as my son was.. and I quote " Super Stoked", and so was I!

I've been going to Second Wind for years for windsurf gear and rentals. Always really friendly and helpful staff! I just bought a board rack for my car from them and the service and price were great as usual ! They even put the rack on the car for free and gave me free pads for it! (Last place I bought a rack - in Calif. - they charge 50 bucks for installation and no free pads). Always love shopping there-always good prices and a happy, friendly place!

Good surf & windsport shop. Hydrofoil board rentals (board only - brought my own foil, which was a lot easier to travel with). Great service - good selection.

Really good prices on gear, they have something for everyone. The staff are next level: super knowledgeable and always there to help & accommodate. I've called Trevor many times and he's always passionate and giving great answers on the phone which is nice when budgeting and planning for a trip to Maui. Their location is right be kite beach too. Excellent shop & staff all around.

Awesome customer service!! I was hesitant buying a sup without seeing it with my own eyes, carrying it, and feeling it. They were the nearest dealer for a specific board I was looking for and have been researching for a few months. I live on Kauai and called their shop and they had the board in stock!! Jay sent me pics which eased my hesitation. He assured me they would pack it properly, called me when he put it on Aloha air cargo and asked me to call him when I received it. Great communication. I will definitely keep them in mind when I'm ready for my next board. Big mahalo to Jay. You guys rip!!

This place was excellent. I needed a surfboard to use for the day on my last day here in Maui. Gave them a callAnd they told Me $25 to rent a long board for the day this was the best price I got around and totally came right here signed the necessary paperwork and I was on my way with the longboard worked out great return the longboard very friendly staff I will definitely come here again the next time I visit Maui for any surf or rental equipment thanks againPs. A 9 ft surfboard fits completely inside a prius

I rented windsurfing gear from them during my trip. The overall experience was amazing. Highlights:- One of the better priced places for daily rentals- Provided board w 2 sails and all the required parts (I brought my own harness, unsure if they provide)- Equipment is in great condition and had a variety of options for each level (I am an intermediate)- Staff super friendly and helpful- They organized a private lesson for me with HST- Straps and roof rack pads provided to transport the board- Located close to Kanaha, which is where there is a great community of windsurfers and awesome conditions- Able to store the equipment there at night and pickup every day, hours were good for that (cannot start at Kanaha until 11am anyways)- Was able to swap out equipment when needed, even switched board sizes mid day at one pointWould highly recommend them and will definitely be back here. Super friendly people on top of it all!
